I’ve always had the majority of my family and when I say majority I mean ALL of my family live in the same state as me. I grew up with all of my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents a short 10-15 minutes away from me. I loved it. I developed super close relationships with so many of them and cherish the time we’ve spent together and the memories we’ve created.
I have a really close relationship with my family. I am the only girl and also the youngest, which was definitely in my favor growing up. Can you say spoiled much? It was great! Haha. I have two older brothers 5 and 7 years old than me. There was a span of time when I was in high school that my brother Dallas and I became the best of friends. We did everything together. I will always remember those times and hold them close to my heart. Anyways, fast forward to a few years after I graduated high school. Dallas met his wife Tanisha and they got married. A few years after they were married they decided to relocate to Texas. This broke my little heart. I figured since they were moving I would never see them hardly at all let alone have a close relationship with them. I’m happy to say that that is definitely not what happened! We have found different ways of communication and different ways to stay in touch.
Sorry about that long tangent I went off on! I felt like I needed to update you on where life is currently at so I can tell you the stories from my most recent trip visiting my brother in Texas!
Almost two years ago the best little person came into my life. My little nephew McCoy! He seriously is my most favorite person on this planet. I never knew I could love a little person so much. Every chance I can get to see him I jump on it immediately. On average I try and go see him about every 6 months. The last time I was there was back in August of 2016 for his first birthday party! I had made plans to go see him in January on the way home from a cruise I had taken but some things came up and I had to reschedule and come straight home. I decided it had been too long since I had seen him and so I planned another trip out last month in May!
Look at that face. ADORABLE. I love him!
We spent most of our days just hanging out and playing. Everyday while I was there we tried to go on a bike ride to the park. This little guy LOVES being outside. I love being outside almost as much as he does so it works.
Every night after the little babe was in bed my brother, sister in law and I all enjoyed some Steel City Pops. Everytime I come for a visit we try and head there for one of our first stops! I stock up on enough pops to last me through the end of the trip. 1 or 2 pops a day. Don’t judge. They have the most amazing ice cream popsicles with cookies INSIDE them. Yep you read that right. Cookies and ice cream in one. It’s heaven. I crave them on the daily in the summer. My favorite of this trip was a brownie inside chocolate ice cream.
And coconut!
Another one of my most favorite things to do with him is play at the splash pad! He LOVES water! Even though it was an overcast day and a little chilly out he still was all smiles while shivering. We didn’t last super long but it was well worth it!
The last adventure that we went on was a trip to the Dallas Zoo! McCoy loved it. All morning long we were running around the house yelling “Zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo” until mom and dad were ready to go!
After the Zoo we went to one of my most favorite restaurants that is in Texas. Torchy’s Tacos! It’s seriously SO yummy! They don’t have any of them in Utah so everytime I find out out of state I make sure and stop by! My most favorite taco is the Fried Avocado with a side of chips and queso. SO amazing! This time I also tried one of the breakfast tacos and it was so delicious. I don’t think you can make a wrong choice here!
With all of the ice cream and delicious food I was eating on the daily, I still tried to get my workout in each day! My most favorite sweat burner that requires no equipment at all comes from www.gppfit.com. GPP is the gym that I go to and it is pretty awesome. I will have to do a post one of these days to explain who they are and what they are all about. The workout is called Burp-O-Rama. It consists of doing 10 burpees on the minute every minute for 20 minutes. It is KILLER. So good. If you want a quick sweat sesh definitely give this one a go!
All in all it was the most perfect trip I could’ve asked for! I am so lucky to have these peeps as part of my family and am so extremely grateful for this nephew of mine!!

This is the sweetest thing ever Kym! Not only do I love how this captures all the fun stuff we did together while you visited, but your love for McCoy warms my heart in a way I can’t describe! ❤ you! So glad we’ve worked to stay close despite the distance. 😘
